Prospect & Portfolio Research Manager | Foundation

Reporting directly to the Director of Foundation & Campaign Development, the Prospect & Portfolio Research Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, managing, and directing a comprehensive prospect research and moves management program. The director will accurately identify new prospective donors, update information on existing donors and prospects, and gauge a prospect's capacity and propensity to make a meaningful impact through philanthropy at the CentraCare Foundation. The director will manage all processes associated with prospect management, including building and evaluating portfolios, and implementing methods that, through quantitative and qualitative means, assess and drive portfolio activity. The director will work collaboratively across the development team as a key strategy partner to contribute effectively toward fundraising goals. This position will also perform regular research on the major and principal gifts prospects and move prospects through the solicitation cycle based on interactions with major gift officers.

Full-time 80 hours every 2 weeks Mon-Fri 8:00a-5:00p Majority at-home work; will need to be onsite quarterly

Pay & Benefits:

Starting pay begins at $53,216.68 per year and increases with experience Salary range:  $53,216.68 - $79,781.68 per year Salary range is based on a 1.0 FTE, reduced FTE will result in a prorated offer rate Full-time benefits: Medical, dental, PTO, retirement, employee discounts and more!

Qualifications: 

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institute.  2 years minimum of research experience in an academic, development, marketing or related industry. Related experience might include, but is not limited to prospect research, data analysis, statistics, project management, or computer science. Experience with Salesforce CRM preferred. Knowledge of health care and/or foundation environment strongly preferred. Must possess leadership qualities and the ability to manage processes with limited oversights. Must possess thorough knowledge of research methodology, library skills, and interviewing skills. Must possess thorough knowledge of various computer applications, such as word processing, spreadsheet, database, and graphics. Must possess a high level of maturity and an appreciation for philanthropic support. Must understand the confidential nature of information. Outstanding written and oral communication skills required. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a complex environment and build positive relationships with internal and external clientele. Ability to motivate team members in support of the vision and to collaborate with one another in achieving team goals.

Core Functions:

Set and implement a vison, goals and strategies for a comprehensive prospect management and research program, including implementation of tools and best practices and ensure excellent data quality and consistency. Assist the Director of Foundation and Campaign Development in monitoring progress of overall campaign and other major gifts solicitations as well as the major gift prospect pipeline. Through the prospect research process, assist leadership in setting fundraising priorities and strategies, including on the availability of prospects identified, qualified, and solicited for major gifts, and the tracking of top prospects through the solicitation process. Manage development prospecting research processes. Activities include fulfilling research requests as needed, composing and/or updating prospect profiles on qualified constituents, identifying new potential prospects using both internal and external data sources, and implementing and disseminating alerts on donors, prospects, and companies. Oversee the prospect and portfolio management functionality in Salesforce. Responsible for the management of field officer assignments, updating qualification indicators, review of contacts entered and training for staff on the use of prospect and portfolio resources. Conduct regular portfolio management and review meetings with the development team and develop metrics, reports, and dashboards to monitor gift officers progress while helping them work toward their fundraising goals. Provide Research and analysis reports of major donors and prospects. Analysis will include capacity ratings, biographical and career information, indicators of wealth, philanthropic interests, and other key information. Documents will include complex language that is interpreted and translated into easily comprehensible terms while adhering to CentraCare Standards of discretion and confidentiality. Interpret research to fundraisers as necessary. Collaborate with Operations to build out the prospecting functions in Salesforce for reporting and prospect allocation and portfolio development, portfolio management, portfolio analysis and review, and pipeline management. Leverage external software systems including but not limited to IWave and Lexis Nexis and other business intelligence tools to provide prospecting intelligence which includes the management of wealth screening. Exhibit experience in systems and workflows for revenue generating prospecting and methods required to expand the organization’s major gift donor base. Manage multiple projects or customers, requests and initiatives, with frequently competing deadlines, ensuring timely project completion and delivery of high-quality products. Provide creative and resourceful approaches to portfolio management, research, prospecting, and reporting challenges. Stay current on leading industry trends; transfer and apply expertise.  Maintain and expand prospect research and management expertise with continuing education about new sources, search methods, relevant information technologies, and portfolio management techniques. Perform those duties and responsibilities as may be requested by the Director of Foundation and Campaign Development and/or Vice President.
