Your role and responsibilitiesAs part of the ABB’s Protection and Control Design Engineering team, you will be responsible to deliver electrical system protection and control design services. As a protection and control design engineer you are responsible for working with project managers to ensure that the work executes and satisfies project specifications. While this is a remote position, preferred candidates will be located in the Sacramento, CA area. This role is contributing to the Electrification Service Division in the United States. You will be mainly accountable for:•\tApply engineering knowledge to perform project engineering duties for new and existing utility substations, industrial and commercial facilities. Duties include, but are not limited to, planning, coordinating, and performing new and retrofit protection & control / automation designs for engineered systems.•\tDevelop engineering design documentation (with supervision), which include but is not limited to, SLMR diagrams, control building & panel layout diagrams, AC & DC schematics, logic diagrams, cable schedules, bill of materials and engineering reports.•\tWork independently and with a diverse team of multi-discipline engineers / technical personnel, project managers and suppliers, in the delivery of protection & control / automation design projects for customers.•\tDeveloping relationships and actively maintaining a technical knowledge exchange with key technical contacts.
Qualifications for the roleBachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Computer engineering from an accredited institution required.5+ years of experience required.PE License strongly preferred. Ability to obtain a PE License required. Ability to read, correctly interpret, and apply electrical one-lines, schematics, and instruction manuals.Proficient software experience should include Easy Power, SKM Powertools, ETAP, Aspen, and EMTP.Willingness to work in a multi-task environment and work with minimal supervision.Willingness to perform field duties as requiredCandidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
