The Division promotes a culture of ethics, integrity, and safety in alignment with CU Boulder's commitment to operational excellence. The agent's primary responsibility is to support the Division's mission by fostering and maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This is achieved through direct protection services for principal(s), supervision of access control measures, and coordination with law enforcement and campus partners. The successful candidate will build collaborative relationships across departments, incorporate safety innovations, and uphold high levels of integrity and security in protective services. We value different backgrounds, identities and perspectives and believe that engagement with a wide range of ideas and viewpoints can help students learn and grow. **What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be** _Leadership and Analysis_ + Develop policies, standards, and procedures for protective services to ensure integrity, security, and standardization within the protective services function. + Maintain awareness of protective services industry innovations and integrate these innovations into divisional strategic planning as appropriate. + Provide direct support to the principal(s). + Exhibit analytical skills and objective observation to assess situations and make quick, effective decisions. + Demonstrate skill in managing situations firmly, courteously, tactfully, and impartially. + Possess skills to de-escalate tense situations and remain calm under pressure. + Ability to work various shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed to meet the department's operational requirements. _Operational Responsibilities_ + Provide security and escort services for principal(s) during normal working hours and after-hour travel, including out-of-state travel when required. + Communicate movement updates of principal(s) to leadership to maintain situational awareness. + Supervise and oversee building access control measures to ensure the safe arrival and departure of principal(s) and prevent unauthorized or suspicious access, identifying unsafe conditions or irregularities. + Investigate suspicious activities and unusual incidents related to specific events. + Analyze security data to identify patterns or trends that could impact principal safety and implement necessary course corrections. + Prepare and test emergency response plans for key locations, such as event venues, residences (as applicable), and primary office locations. + Conduct building security reviews and adversarial analysis of key locations and buildings as directed by supervisors. + Perform emergency walkthroughs of non-CU Boulder buildings where the principal is scheduled to be present. + Plan and develop work schedules to ensure adequate security coverage during regular operations and special events, including 24-hour shift coverage. + Participate in supervisory staff meetings, pre-event briefings, and other planning sessions; recommend policy changes and program improvements to superiors. + Perform access control; maintain unit duty logs, daily reports, incident reports, and all required documentation. + Supervise security officers, specialists, and contract security personnel during on-campus events. + Coordinate with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies escorting VIPs and dignitaries on CU Boulder properties. + Perform safety and equipment inspections. _Campus Partnership_ + Engage in open and collaborative discussions with the Office of the Chancellor and the Department of Athletics. + Work with campus partners to find opportunities to improve the use of university resources in protective services operations. _Other Duties_ + Perform additional duties necessary for the operations and mission of the Division of Public Safety and the University. **What You Should Know** Weekends and nights may be required. **What We Can Offer** The starting salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000 annually. **Benefits** The University of Colorado offers excellent benefits (https://www.colorado.edu/jobs/benefits) , including medical, dental, retirement, paid time off, tuition benefit and ECO Pass.
