Job Title: Protein Biochemist 
Location: Alameda, CA 
Pay Range: $30 - $40/hr
Type: Contract, Potential for extension or conversion to permanent

Responsibilities:

Expression of recombinant proteins from E. coli and insect cell systems Purification of recombinant proteins from E. coli and insect cell systems using affinity and traditional chromatography (e.g. SEC, IEX) techniques Characterize proteins by SDS-PAGE, Abs280, size exclusion chromatography (SEC), Western blot Familiarity with standard molecular biology techniques including transformation Familiarity recording, analyzing, and interpreting experimental data Maintain proper laboratory notebooks Comply with safe laboratory practices and EH&S guidelines

Requirements:

BS Degree Required 2 -5 years of experience  Extensive hands-on experience in protein expression and purification is required Familiarity with FPLC systems (e.g. Akta) is a plus Familiarity with biophysical techniques (e.g. SEC-MALS, DSF, SPR, etc.) is a plus Familiarity with protein crystallization and/or cryo-EM sample preparation is a plus Benefits
