Overview Assesses the nutritional needs of individuals and groups, plans and implements nutrition counseling and education services adapted to the cultural, social and economic conditions of the service population. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university which held accreditation, at the time the degree was conferred, from accepted regional educational accrediting associations as reported by the American Association of Collegiate Registrar and Admissions Officers which includes a minimum of 24 semester hours from the fields of human nutrition, food and nutrition, dietetics, or food systems management, or an equivalent major course of study as may be approved by the Board. A substantial equivalent major course of study shall be defined as either: (1) A Bachelor’s degree including a minimum of 30 semester hours specifically designated to train a person to apply and integrate scientific principles of human nutrition under different health, social, cultural, physical, psychological and economic conditions to the proper nourishment, care and education of individuals or groups through the life cycle. Of these 30 semester hours, a minimum of 18 semester hours must be from human nutrition, food and nutrition, dietetics, or food systems management; or (2) A Bachelor’s degree including a major course of study meeting the minimum academic requirements to qualify for examination by the Commission. After meeting the academic requirements persons applying for licensure must be registry eligible with the Commission on Dietetic Registration by having completed an internship or pre-planned professional experience program approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) or enrolled and within three (3) months of completing an ACEND approved internship or pre-planned professional experience program. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT No additional experience required. COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should have knowledge of Database, Inventory, Spreadsheet and Word Processing software, and Order processing systems. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. If under supervision (Dietitian Eligible) must have a temporary letter authorizing practice under the direct, on-site supervision of a dietitian licensed in Oklahoma, except those applicants with evidence of current registration may practice under general supervision or a provisional license from the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision. The purpose of this section is to set out the nature and scope of the supervision provided for Provisional Licensed Dietitians. A provisional licensed dietitian shall be under the supervision and direction of a licensed dietitian. "Supervision and Direction" shall be defined as the authoritative procedural guidance provided by a licensed dietitian and need not be routinely on-site. Written reports of the provisional licensed dietitian's activities shall be provided to the supervising licensed dietitian at least quarterly and to the Board at its request. The supervising licensed dietitian shall submit to the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision, at six-month intervals, a progress report on the provisionally licensed dietitian's progress toward full licensure. The supervising licensed dietitian must sign the application for a provisional license and the application for renewal of the provisional license on and after November 1, 1984. Preferred Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist or CDCES. Must also maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must have knowledge of computers and audio/video equipment. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers; or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Educated on and compliant with HIPPA regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of client information. Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care. onths of completing an ACEND approved internship or pre-planned professional experience program. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
