Provisioning Supervisor - Project Materials Management - Engineering Americas - Role and Responsibilities:
Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an experienced Provisioning Supervisor at our Global Headquarters in Allentown, PA.
This position is responsible for managing the spare parts provisioning process for engineering projects primarily supporting Operations and Air Products joint ventures in North and South America. The overall objective is to specify and provision hard goods spare parts for new and existing Air Products’ production plants in accordance with project time schedules to ensure parts availability for plant commissioning and start-up.
The incumbent is expected to be an expert in the provisioning process, which consists of developing spare parts estimates for new projects, gathering parts information for new project equipment, adding parts information to the inventory system, determining required parts to support equipment using established philosophies and best practices, and determining impact of logistics. Decisions are made based on current provisioning philosophies, and through interface and influence with leaders in Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Procurement.
In addition to functional work, the incumbent is responsible for the staff's work output by selectively reviewing their work to find improvement opportunities and teaching moments. Staff development occurs through work experiences that enable independent decision making and action. Influencing other regional provisioning groups by sharing technical knowledge and experiences is critical to the overall capabilities of the provisioning organization.
This position requires quarterly off-hours support, and participation in virtual meetings with participants from multiple global time zones.
Scope of responsibilities include:
Lead a team of developing and seasoned Provisioning team members.
Set annual priorities, develop employees, and increase the functional competency of the Provisioning team to adequately support our growing business.
Manage provisioning workload list, personally completing provisioning projects where required.
Maintain and develop provisioning philosophies and work processes for high-complexity plants. Improve provisioning capability through sharing functional and technical knowledge.
Develop spare parts estimates (preliminary budgets) for new projects across North and South America requiring interfacing with Project Development, Engineering, Line Management, Asset Managers, vendors, and Procurement.
Reduce spare parts costs and improve product support.
Review sparing recommendations with engineering groups based on plant reliability requirements, plant geography, current company stock, usage rates, pricing, etc.
Oversee preparation of load files for new Equipment Hard Goods SAP Bills of Materials using an established Web-based database. Oversee preparation of Load Files for new and extended hard goods Materials Masters in SAP.
Oversee preparation and issuing of requisitions for all new hard goods and ancillary equipment in SAP.

Supervisory or team leadership experience.
Spare parts procurement and provisioning experience highly desirable.

Strong problem-solving capability.
Proficiency in SAP or other enterprise resource planning software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
Education and Licensing Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical engineering preferred) or a related field of study preferred.
PMP preferred.
5+ years of experience preferred.
