PROWD YOUTH and FAMILY SPECIALIST
Program: PROWD (Providing Real Opportunities With Dedication) Location: 400 West Avenue Position: PROWD YOUTH and FAMILY SPECIALIST Hours: 37.5 hrs / 52wk Salary Range: $33,602 - $44,102 Salary Grade: 11 Summary of Responsibilities: Under the direction of the PROWD Program Manager, the PROWD Youth and Family Specialist delivers pre-adolescent sexual health and asset curriculums to youth ages 10-13 yrs. Primary duties for this position include: Implementing weekly after-school program activities during afterschool hours. Monday-Friday for youth in designated schools. Facilitate life skills, educational and youth developmental asset curriculums to youth/parents/residents in various community settings. Qualifications/Education and Experience: + Bachelor’s Degree required in Education, Human/Community Services, Youth Development, or related field; Associate degree/SACC Credential and three (3) years of relevant youth related work experience will be considered. 2 years’ experience working with adolescents 10-13 yrs. preferably in a community setting. + Demonstrate a working level knowledge of positive youth development, asset building, developmentally appropriate practices, and service strategies for success. + Knowledge of best practices in prevention/intervention services and trends in youth and family development initiatives. + Knowledge of adolescent sexual health trends in Rochester and Monroe County; requires high degree of confidentiality, comfort, and sensitivity in addressing youth/family needs; requires the ability to engage participants/families and provide advocacy services on health/social issues related to development and stability. + Excellent organizational and planning skills; attentive to details in coordinating program activities; and effective communication skills, both verbal and writing + Requires flexibility in working occasional evening and weekend hours. + Experience speaking in diverse settings and diverse audiences; knowledge of group dynamics, class-room management, participant engagement, integration activities and team building strategies. + Familiarity with intake interviewing; initial assessments and development of action plans/goal setting required; knowledge of instruments and interpretation used in youth educational, vocational and employability diagnostic assessments is helpful. + Knowledge of public/media relations, marketing and social media is preferred. + Familiarity with the Greater Rochester community and local/national resources working in the youth service field is preferred; ability to work in creating shared youth/adult leadership initiatives; developing partnerships/collaborations with area organizations, schools, (i.e. RCSD, Monroe Co. Health Department, etc.) and other supportive providers, research groups, committees and public entities dedicated to service provision and advocacy. + Requires proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suites + Requires valid Driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
