**Job Summary**
This position is based in the division of urology University of Utah with a specific focus on working with the urologic oncology surgery team at Huntsman Cancer Hospital. The team currently consists of 4 physicians and 5 physician assistants supported by a team of highly skilled RN’s and MA’s who are looking to replace a 5th APC who is leaving. It is a dynamic team looking for someone who is self-motivated and team oriented with an emphasis on being patient-focused. There is a premium placed on development of the APC with expectations of continuing education, skill development, research support, and collaboration with other oncology services. The APC will need to be able to perform both independent and collaborative care with a physician. This is a surgical practice with primary responsibilities being in the outpatient setting. Clinical responsibilities will include an ability to perform various urologic based office procedures. Requirements include the ability to manage post-operative patients, patient education, and strong communication. It is also required to convey lab, imaging, and pathology results to patients in a timely manner with expertise and compassion. There is a strong emphasis placed on surgical background, specifically as a robotic first assist, as the candidate may have opportunity to assist on these cases. Focus is on clinical work for first year.

**Responsibilities**
1. Takes complex medical histories on patients referred for consultation by academic and community physicians.
2. Performs physical examinations.
3. Orders laboratory tests, imaging studies and other diagnostic procedures.
4. Reach diagnosis of medical, surgical and other conditions.
5. Develops treatment plans in conjunction with attending physician to provide optimal patient medical management.
6. Counsel and educate patients.
7. Participates in continuing medical education to include specialty and sub-specialty meetings, clubs, boards and conferences.
8. Orders consultations and interacts with members of other specialty medical teams.
9. Participates in special projects and committee functions.
10. Perform in-office Urology procedures.
11. Potential surgical 1st assist on robotic cases after first year of clinical only.

**Minimum Qualifications**
Required:
+ Current licensure to practice as a Physician’s Assistant from the State of Utah.
+ Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Preferred:
+ Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.

**Preferences**
Candidates with previous experience in a Urology clinical practice.
