PSA Customer Information Graphic Designer I
Basic Function

Responsible for developing, preparing, producing and coordinating graphic art for METRO within the organization’s graphic standards and management’s direction. Responsible for producing printed and digital information to explain and promote METRO services and programs. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.

Responsibilities and Specific Duties This is a temporary PSA job assignment not to exceed six (6) months in duration or $25,000 in total hourly wages during the six (6) month period. Creates, designs, illustrates, and prepares print materials for electronic output and/or production. Employs color, type, illustration, photography, animation, and various print and layout techniques to design a project that is engaging and educational based on audience and collateral needs. Resizes and handles production work on existing design work to build out campaign collateral. Consults with internal and external clients about print projects and produces these materials to the clients' satisfaction. Works in conjunction with members of the Marketing team. Organizes print projects and coordinates them through the printing and distribution processes.  Conducts own press checks.  Coordinates projects with METRO's internal & external print shops. Handles routine projects, often on a quick turnaround basis.  Adheres strictly to established deadlines. Research projects and collects necessary materials to complete them. Maintains thorough files and accounting of past projects. Designs logos for products and businesses. Develops signs and environmental graphics. Creates promotional displays, packaging, and marketing brochures. Develops the layout and production design for magazines, newspapers, journals, corporate reports, and other publications. Performs research on competitors and market trends. Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers. Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents. Applies SMS methods and principles in their daily routine and supports all aspects of the agency’s Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP). Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Pay Range: $26.11 hr - $34.23 hr Education Requirement

Associates degree in Graphics Arts or related degree is required. 

Years & Experience Required

Minimum two (2) years’ experience producing printed marketing materials using an Apple Macintosh computer and industry standard graphic design software. Project coordination experience preferred.

Knowledge & Skills Required

Practical knowledge of industry standard graphic design software, such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is a plus. Must have the ability to take administrative and artistic direction, work independently and in a team atmosphere. Possess strong organizational and communication (written/verbal) skills. Must be able to work under tight deadlines.
