**Job Title: PSNS- 2nd Class Sheet Metal Mechanic** **Job Description** We are seeking a skilled 2nd Class Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in shipboard construction HVAC and habitability, with a thorough understanding of mechanical drawings and sheet metal product installation. You will be responsible for ensuring safe and efficient work practices, maintaining quality control, and adhering to all safety regulations. **Responsibilities** + Assure that tank/compartment has an updated safe for hot work ticket and that requirements of the ticket have been met, including ventilation, lighting, and safety equipment. + Ensure that conditions of the tank/compartment have not changed since the ticket was written, such as fuel run back or unsafe working conditions. + Verify that a Work Authorization Form (WAF) ticket is on the job site and specific to the job being accomplished. No work will be performed without a WAF posted at the location of repairs. + Comply with any other safety issues related to the specific job, including special staging, face shields for grinding, protective clothing for hot work, and breathing apparatus with correct cartridges. + Ensure that you are trained or qualified for the work assigned, such as JLG, forklift, welding, brazing, and special electrical/mechanical repairs. + Ensure that you and personnel working under your direction are working safely and productively while maintaining quality control at all times. + Leave the job site in a safe and clean condition prior to departure. + Understand mechanical drawings and be able to layout, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products related to shipboard construction HVAC and habitability. + Have knowledge of various types of metals and sizes. + Assist in the assembly of ventilation runs according to drawings, specifications, and Navy shipboard standard detail requirements. + Have a basic knowledge of habitability layout and installation of MJB, MJ doors, berthing, galleys, and office outfitting, under supervisor direction. **Essential Skills** + Minimum of 3 years of experience as a sheet metal mechanic in a shipyard/Navy environment. + Basic understanding of mechanical drawings. + Ability to gain access to government facilities and obtain a security clearance. + Reliable transportation. + Ability to work well with others. + Ability to work aboard vessels, climb ladders, and work in tanks and confined spaces. + Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment. + Ability to work evening and weekend hours. + Ability to lift 50 pounds. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience with ductwork and HVAC systems. **Why Work Here?** Join a dedicated team where your skills and experience will be valued. Be prepared for outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including rain, sun, and snow. The typical work week can range from 40 to 60 hours, and you may be required to work 12-hour days and 7 days a week. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bremerton, Washington. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $28.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
