HIRING IMMEDIATELY Job Title: PSNS- Rigger 2nd Class Pay: $27/hr

Job Description

The Rigger 2nd Class is responsible for accomplishing work in accordance with work specifications safely, with the highest quality, in a professional manner. The ideal candidate will have light electrician or ship fitting experience to help when there is no rigging work. Assist other trades in removing equipment and/or structural components by the use of lifting equipment such as chain falls, cranes, shackles and slings.

ResponsibilitiesAssist other trades in removing equipment and/or structural components by using lifting equipment such as chain falls, cranes, shackles, and slings.Meet the requirements of an Outside Machinist.Communicate with crane operators via hand signals or voice radios.Carry and use chain falls.Inspect, use, and store wire rope pennants and slings properly.Determine the load weight and center of gravity when rigging equipment.Select the correct rigging equipment for the current task.Use complex multipoint suspension techniques to maneuver loads and move objects from heights of 50ft to 70ft.Tie knots and understand their uses and functionalities such as bowlines, square knots, and hitches.Estimate the weight needed for weight tests on different types of ship equipment.Carry a full tool bag and assist outside machinists in removing, disassembling, repairing, reassembling, and reinstalling ship equipment.Essential SkillsQualified rigger level one and qualified signal person - OSHA 1926 Subpart CC Certified.Advanced knowledge of crane signals and terminologies.Ability to communicate with crane operators via hand signals or voice radios.Ability to carry and use chain falls.Advanced knowledge in proper inspection, use, and storage of wire rope pennants and slings.Ability to determine load weight and center of gravity.Ability to select the correct rigging equipment for tasks.Knowledge of complex multipoint suspension techniques.Knowledge of knot tying and their uses such as bowlines, square knots, and hitches.Ability to estimate the weight needed for weight tests.Ability to carry a full tool bag and assist outside machinists.8-12 years of shipyard rigging experience.Ability to work at heights of 20 ft. or higher.Ability to stand, sit, walk, kneel, and crawl for long periods of time.Adherence to company safety policies and industrial safety requirements.Basic tools ranging from 1/4\" to 1 ¼\".Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience as a Boatswain, Mate, Navy, or Boatswain's Mate.Ability to obtain DBIDS.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

The role involves evening and weekend hours. Must be able to access all work locations, including government and private shipyards and/or vessels. The work environment requires adherence to safety policies and involves working at heights and in various physical positions such as standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, and crawling for extended periods.

This is a Contract position based out of Bremerton, Washington.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $28.00/hr.
