Psychiatric Associate - Adolescent and Child Mental Health
Overview Looking to work in role that will make a difference in the community? We at Fairview Health Services is looking for a dedicated Psychiatric Associate to join the hardworking Riverside side location on the University of Minnesota Campus! 7A is a 13 bed unit, that serves child and Adolescent unit that serve patients between the ages of 10-18 all single occupancy. We provide a lot of options for groups and encourage patients to attend OT, TR and other therapeutic groups. Many of our patients arrive subdued and depressed, while others arrive decompensated and manic. There are strict guidelines on the unit to ensure safety. 7A is a fun place to work and often you will see staff playing in the halls with patients. We also have a strong Unit Council which is led by frontline staff. We currently are working on encouraging more group participation on 7A. We have a lot of creative energy on our units and look for new ways to build better programming that is individualized to the specific needs of our patients. The starting base rate of pay for the position is $24.27.Candidates with experience may be brought in at a higher rate of pay. The shift differential for the night shift is $3.00 This role is approved for 64 hours, every two weeks on the night shift, working 8-hour shifts and every other weekend with a variable schedule. PTO, and 403B with potential for employer contribution match; check out the benefit link here: https://www.fairview.org/Careers/Benefits/LocalSEIU Responsibilities Job Description The Psych Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care, and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the supervision of the RN so that the goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned. Maintains safety of patient and staff by conducting the following as assigned: Conducts safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation. Conducts room, belonging and unit searches. Responds and participates in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained. Actively participates in milieu management with treatment teamwork. Performs basic patient daily living routines and procedures according to treatment plan: Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of diagnoses and interventions. Conducts educational programming with individual and/or patient groups according to appropriate treatment plan. Responds to emergency situations as trained per policy. Participates in the treatment team’s mission, goals and plans: Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary therapeutic team. Exhibits verbal communication in a timely, detailed, and professional manner. Possesses knowledge of current issues, changes and updates in Behavioral Services policies and procedures.
