Psychiatric Associate - Behavioral Emergency Center
Overview MHealth Fairview Health Services is looking for a Psychiatric Assistant to join our new Behavioral Emergency Center! The BEC cares for both pediatric and adult patients. This position will also work in our future EmPATH (Emergency Psychiatric Assessment Treatment & Healing) unit. This unit provides a calming, healing approach to emergent mental health care, offering patients in crisis immediate care from trained mental health professionals in a relaxed environment, with direct connections to outpatient treatment. M Health Fairview is the first in Minnesota to offer an EmPATH model of care! With EmPATH, mental health patients undergo a quick medical screening before entering a living-room style setting where they can access the support and care they need to stabilize their situation, receive ongoing human interaction, and in many cases avoid the need for inpatient admission. This role is approved for 56 hours, every two weeks on a rotating day/evening shift, working 8-hour shifts and every other weekend with a variable schedule. This position is benefit eligible. PTO, and 403B with potential for employer contribution match; check out the benefit link here: https://www.fairview.org/Careers/Benefits/LocalSEIU Responsibilities Job Description The Psych Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care, and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the supervision of the RN so that the goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned. Maintains safety of patient and staff by conducting the following as assigned: Conducts safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation. Conducts room, belonging and unit searches. Responds and participates in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained. Actively participates in milieu management with treatment team collaboration. Performs basic patient daily living routines and procedures according to treatment plan: Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of diagnoses and interventions. Conducts educational programming with individual and/or patient groups according to appropriate treatment plan. Responds to emergency situations as trained per policy. Participates in the treatment team’s mission, goals and plans: Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary therapeutic team. Exhibits verbal communication in a timely, detailed, and professional manner. Possesses knowledge of current issues, changes and updates in Behavioral Services policies and procedures.
