Psychiatric Consultant (Psychiatrist or PMHNP)

Join Our Team as a Psychiatric Consultant!

Location: Working at Cascadia's four health centers, all in the Portland Metro area.
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, typically 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Cascadia Health is seeking a Psychiatric Consultant, either a licensed Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), to support our primary care team in delivering integrated behavioral health services. This role offers the unique opportunity to work in two distinct capacities within a primary care setting: as a Collaborative Care Psychiatric Consultant and as a Primary Care Psychiatric Consultant.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Psychiatric Consultant, you will:

As part of the collaborative care model (CoCM) team: provide regularly scheduled consultations to behavioral health care managers, focusing on patients who are new to the caseload or those not improving under their current treatment plan. Oversee the status and population health of your assigned patient caseload, utilizing a registry to track and prioritize patients for review and treatment adjustments. Recommend treatment adjustments, including medication changes, within 24 hours of consultation, and advise on cases needing more specialized mental health care. As part of traditional psychiatric services embedded in primary care: conduct direct evaluations of patients with significant diagnostic or therapeutic challenges referred by primary care providers. Offer brief episode-of-care medication management with the goal of either referral to specialty psychiatric care or returning the patient to primary care once stabilized. Collaborate closely with primary care providers, behavioral health care managers, behavioral health consultants and other team members to ensure comprehensive and effective patient care.

Qualifications:

Licensed Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with an unencumbered license to practice medicine in Oregon, including active DEA certification and compliance with all maintenance requirements. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting. Excellent communication skills. Positive, flexible, and solution-focused attitude. Ability to synthesize medical and psychiatric data quickly and formulate evidence-based clinical recommendations.
