Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner - San Francisco, California
BAART Community Healthcare (BCH) is looking for a qualified Psych NP interested in gaining or solidifying experience working in Community Mental Health, Dual Diagnosis, Crisis, Co-morbid medical conditions (HEP C, HIV), and Opioid Replacement Treatment. BCH is a private non-profit agency providing Primary Care and Community Mental Health services to Adult MediCal and San Francisco Health Plan recipients residing primarily in the Downtown / Civic Center area of San Francisco. BCH is integrated into methadone maintenance treatment program (BAART Programs). The Psych NP position will be part of with the Mental Health Program in close interdisciplinary collaboration with Primary Care and Substance Use/Methadone program staff, who are one of the main sources of referrals for the Mental Health Program. The Mental Health Program is a Specialty clinic serving clients in the moderate to severe range of functional impairment. Minimum Qualifications: Possession of current nurse practitioner license in good standing issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing Possession of NP Furnishing License or ability to obtain NP Furnishing License within six months of employment ANCC certification as a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Must be able to obtain Medical Staff privileges through San Francisco Department of Public Health Excellent knowledge of DSM-V criteria, HIPAA regulations, and medication treatment options for most psychiatric diagnoses General understanding and openness to Harm Reduction and Wellness and Recovery Principles of treating dually diagnosed patients Computer literacy and excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Suite Programs. Satisfactory completion of drug screen and background check. Preferred Qualifications: DEA registration 5150 Certification or willingness to become certified. Active First Aid/CPR certification (provided by the agency every 2 years) Knowledge of MediCal billing requirements and medical necessity re: Specialty MH Knowledge of opioid replacement treatment as applied to psych medication prescription practices (sedatives/narcotics/med seeking) Experience and comfort in working with homeless, substance using, medically complex, and severely mentally ill adults Experience using the EPIC charting database Knowledge of City resources re: Crisis, Dual Diagnosis or MH services Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively verbally and in writing Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately and be detail oriented. Ability to set priorities and complete documentation within deadlines Knowledge of medical and psychiatric terminology Ability to work with clients from diverse cultural and social class backgrounds Ability to collaborate with non-clinicians in a culturally diverse setting Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability Job Responsibilities: Psychiatric Evaluation of new clients Maintaining a caseload of medication management clients, which includes conducting follow up appointments, monitoring side and therapeutic effects, and adjusting meds accordingly Ordering meds in EPIC, coordinating with pharmacies and troubleshooting med errors and other med issues Multidisciplinary collaboration with in-house (Mental Health, Primary Care, and Methadone Maintenance) and outside providers within HIPAA regulations Occasional case management of complex cases requiring higher levels of care Available for clinic-wide crisis evaluation along with other MH staff Maintaining documentation meeting CBHS requirements and agency deadlines Salary Range: Salary ranges from $160,000 - $170,118 annualized The salary of the candidate(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, specialty, and training.
