The role you’ll contribute:
The Psychiatric Technician, reporting to the Practice Manager, provides hands-on care to patients with varying degrees of mental illnesses, following physician instructions and hospital or practice procedures. Monitors and reports the patient’s physical and emotional well-being while helping patients improve their overall functioning. Will be responsible for patient care coordination of both clinical and administrative aspect of patient care. This includes but is not limited to records of vital signs, scheduling appointments and coordination of referrals, medication authorizations and medical records.

Takes and records measures of patient’s general physical and mental condition, such as pulse, blood pressure, temperature, height, weight, and screening intake assessment forms.
Observes patients to detect behavior patterns and reports observations to clinical staff
Records patient medication list and obtains pre-authorizations
Coordinates patient’s referral and orders to ensure patient quality of care.
Coordinates and schedules patient’s appointments
Responds to patient’s clinical inquiries under the direction of the provider.
Responsible for the intake, released and coordination of patient medical records to improve team care coordination. This includes but is not limited to historical medical records, disability forms, FMLA forms and letters.
Intervenes as necessary to restrain violent or potentially violent or suicidal patients by verbal and/or physical means as required
Responsible for daily logging of clinical folders tracking
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum requirements:
High school diploma
Basic Life Support Health Care Provider
Ability to recognize when a patient is having an adverse reaction to medication and report it in a timely manner to the Physician in charge.
Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
Skill in greeting patients and answering the telephone in a professional, pleasant and helpful manner
Preferred qualifications:
Two years of health care experience in related field
One year of experience working with a psychiatric population
American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Certification
American Medical Technologist (AMT) Certification
American Association of Psychiatric Technicians (AAPT)
