JOB SUMMARY
As a Psychiatric Technician in the Emergency Department, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate and therapeutic care to patients experiencing mental health crises, substance abuse issues, or physical, cognitive, psychosocial, or developmental disabilities. Working under the supervision of physicians and registered nurses, you will assist with daily activities, monitor patient well-being, and help maintain a safe and supportive environment. Your role will be essential in stabilizing patients and ensuring they receive the care they need.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: See Licenses and Certifications
Experience: Prefer one-year recentexperience as a psychiatric technician, or previous experience in mental health, emergency, or hospital settings preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing. Able to work and multi-task in a fast -paced environment, effectively managing, prioritizing, delegating patient care, and completing work assignments as well as other duties as assigned. Demonstrate knowledge of common mental health conditions, de-escalation techniques, and substance abuse treatment modalities and intervention. Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively.
License and Certifications: Current active California Psychiatric Technician license. IV certification required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required. ACLS, PALS Certification preferred. Current MAB or Workplace Violence AB508/SB 1299 training required within 3 months of hire or upon completion of orientation period.
Equipment: Computer, monitoring equipment, IV pump, Gurney, beds
Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements of the job.
PAY RANGE
$23.40 - $35.10
The posted pay range reflects the lowest to highest pay that was available for this position at the time of posting and may be subject to change. Salary offers are determined by candidate’s relevant experience and skills. For per diem positions, a standard rate is used based on market data and not the candidate’s individual experience.
