POSITION TITLE: PSYCHIATRIST
DIVISION: SERVICES
FLSA: EXEMPT
REPORTS TO: PROGRAM DIRECTOR
LOCATION: BRIARWOOD (QUEENS)
SALARY: $150,000 - $175,000 Annual
POSITION SUMMARY:
In collaboration with the program director and social services team, provides clinical and medical services for the agency to ensure that optimal quality services are rendered to all clients in a manner consistent with current medical practices and in compliance with all regulatory agencies. Proof of COVID-19 vaccine is required.
POSITION FUNCTIONS:
Demonstrate and practice cultural competence and sophistication in delivering health care to residents of a 200-bed men’s shelterPrepare psychiatric reports as needed including but not limited to mental status exams and comprehensive psychiatric evaluations.Provide short-term or time sensitive treatment compatible with the shelter stayReview client’s assessment evaluation to determine the progress, effectiveness, and appropriateness of treatment services offered.Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss the needs of the clients served and develop treatment plansAttend in-service training sessions and staff meetings required by shelter for continued growth and development.Assist and implement wellness and trauma informed practices.Liaise with hospital admission staff to advocate for and coordinate admission of clients whose symptoms may create a danger for themselves or othersAll other duties as assigned by the Program DirectorEXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Licensed in New York StateExperience in implementing at least one type of evidence-based treatment (e.g. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)Acceptable clearance checks for State Central Register and fingerprinting as required by the program.Prior experience working with the homeless population served, preferably within a shelter settingAbility to speak, read and write Spanish preferred.AGENCY PROFILE & EMPLOYEE EXPECTATIONS:
