Short Description

Cooper University Health Care (CUH) / Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU)

Open Faculty Position in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Cooper University Health Care and Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) are expanding clinical services, teaching and research programs, and innovative population health initiatives.  CUH/CMSRU has an opening for a faculty position in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and Medical Student/Residency Education.  This faculty position offers a unique opportunity to combine clinical care with teaching, scholarly activity, and educational administration.

Building upon Cooper’s strong foundation of community-focused and hospital-based services, and CMSRU’s nationally recognized mission to improve the health of underserved communities, the Department has launched an exciting plan to expand its hospital-based services including consultation-liaison (CL), emergency (ED) and inpatient psychiatry.  The individual will join a team of three psychiatrists and two advanced practice providers (APPs) to provide clinical care, teaching (medical students and residents) and administrative duties to improve the delivery of care to Cooper’s medical, surgical, and emergency department patients.   Most of the clinical time will be spent on the CL/ED service with coverage of the inpatient psychiatry unit as the need arises.

We have embarked on a broader institutional initiative, Cooper Total Health - an innovative model for wellness, resilience, and compassionate care – which brings together expert health care practitioners and support personnel from a variety of disciplines, backgrounds and clinical perspectives to serve our patients and their families.  It aims to transform patient care at CUH/CMSRU with the aim of improving the public health of southern New Jersey.

Appointment and rank will be commensurate with experience. Candidates should be eligible for or have active ACGME board certification in General Psychiatry and be eligible for medical licensure in New Jersey. The responsibilities will include teaching medical students, residents, and other trainees; clinical research; clinical service and program development; and shared duties with other members of the department.  We offer competitive academic compensation and benefits.
