DescriptionThe Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Emory University School of Medicine isseeking a full-time Addiction Psychiatrist to join its outpatient faculty. As part of a growing AddictionPsychiatry Service within Emory Healthcare and in collaboration with the Hazelden Betty FordFoundation, this position will offer the opportunity to participate in clinical care and education. Based onapplicant interest and need, there is flexibility in dividing clinical time between our outpatient andintensive outpatient services. Support staff for nursing needs, scheduling, and case management will beprovided.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical outpatient addiction care, teaching and collaboration are priorities for this position. Research oreducation related funds can offset the percent time for any of these activities. All faculty areencouraged to supervise residents and fellows. Proportional on-call coverage with an average of 4weeks per year is an expected clinical responsibility with cross coverage availability for vacations andconferences. Office space will be provided at the newly built Emory Addiction Center at Emory WesleyWoods Campus, which includes on-site parking, as well as lab and urine drug screen testing. Successfulcandidates will work within a multidisciplinary treatment team with expertise in substance use disordertreatment. The clinic team includes nursing staff and Patient Care and Patient Service Coordinators whoconduct intake scheduling and facilitate case management for patients. The position will include jointfaculty appointment at Emory University School of Medicine and Emory Healthcare. A competitivebenefit plan, including additional incentive pay opportunities and a favorable retirement plan, will alsobe provided to full-time faculty.
QUALIFICATIONS
The rank of the appointment is open and will be commensurate with the experience and professionalaccomplishments of the selected applicants. Applicants should hold an unrestricted license for the stateof Georgia and be board certified in Psychiatry. The candidate must be board eligible in AddictionPsychiatry. Obtaining board certification will be a requirement for retention. Consistent with the currentvision and mission of the department and the division, preference will be given to applicants who havea combined and integrated interest in clinical, research, and teaching activities. Appointment at anylevel beyond Assistant Professor will require a successful record of external funding to support researchactivities, administrative experience, and an active publication record of accomplished research.
