The National Center for Child Traumatic Stress (NCCTS), co-located at UCLA and Duke University, is the coordinating center for the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN). The NCCTS leads, coordinates, and facilitates national collaborations and initiatives across child-serving systems and multiple topical domains, producing child trauma resources, products, reports, and information for providers, treatment developers, families, and stakeholders.
Please note that the NCCTS does not provide direct clinical services to children and families. This position (NCCTS Training and Implementation Program Assistant Director) currently allows a combination of remote and on-site work and is anticipated to continue as a hybrid work arrangement for the foreseeable future. The position is located at Duke University in Durham, NC.
The NCTSN is a unique federally funded initiative that seeks to improve the quality, effectiveness, and availability of care and services for children and families who are exposed to a wide range of traumatic experiences, including physical and sexual abuse; domestic, school, and community violence; natural disasters and terrorism; and life-threatening injury and illness. Combining knowledge of child development, expertise in child traumatic stress, and attention to cultural perspectives, the NCTSN supports the development and broad adoption of evidence-based and trauma-informed treatments. The NCTSN is a collaboration of over 200 academic, clinical, and community service centers across the U.S.
The NCCTS Training and Implementation Program Assistant Director is based in the NCCTS Training and Implementation Program. This position:
Develops long and short-term goals, program-level strategic planning, and program development for the NCCTS Training and Implementation Program. Collaborates and cultivates relationships with NCTSN-funded and affiliate members in education and outreach program development. Co-leads efforts with the Program Director to recruit, supervise, and provide oversight to program staff and consultants. Co-creates with Program Director national initiatives including Breakthrough Series Collaboratives, Learning Collaboratives, and other national-based series-focused trainings. Provides support and leadership in the area of implementation science and quality improvement for multiple mental health (child trauma) and related initiatives within the NCCTS. Coordinates the documentation and reporting of metrics for program initiatives. Provides training and coaching to program-based staff in quality improvement strategies. Works in collaboration with other NCCTS programs such as Data and Evaluation, Site Integration and Collaboration, and Service Systems, among others. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Reports to the Director of the Training and Implementation Program.
Experience: Quality improvement, education, mental health, or related child trauma field. A minimum of five years of experience in the design, delivery, and evaluation of innovative training and education programs within child-serving systems, mental health, and other child trauma-related fields. Two years of experience in providing supervision to team-based staff. Must be capable of consulting and working collaboratively with individuals with diverse professional backgrounds and roles.
Education: Master’s degree or other advanced degree strongly preferred (e.g., healthcare administration or public health with quality/systems emphasis, psychology, human factors experience).
Salary is dependent on education and experience.
