Postdoctoral Research Position, Lunsford-Avery Team

Duke University School of Medicine is seeking applications for a 24-month postdoctoral research position. This research training position represents a unique opportunity to combine interests in pediatric mental health, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), pediatric behavioral sleep medicine, digital health, and sleep and ADHD interventions.

 

Research training will be directed by Jessica Lunsford-Avery, PhD, Associate Professor in the Dept. of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The postdoctoral associate will be involved in several NIH grant-funded initiatives focused on sleep and ADHD, including observational studies that focus on the role of sleep and circadian disturbances in the clinical presentation of children with ADHD, and clinical trials that focus on the development, implementation and evaluation of behavioral sleep health interventions for children with ADHD. The postdoctoral associate will be involved in project implementation, data collection and analysis, and abstract and manuscript preparation. The postdoctoral associate will also be supported in the development of new postdoc-led research projects.

 

Additional collaborators include faculty within the Duke ADHD Program and Duke Center for Girls and Women with ADHD, one of the nation’s only programs dedicated specifically to advancing knowledge about ADHD in girls and women.

 

The postdoctoral associate will be able and encouraged to take advantage of the considerable education and early career training resources in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke.

 

Qualifications: Applicants must have a doctoral degree in a relevant field and an established track record of research productivity. Candidates should demonstrate established quantitative and/or qualitative research skills, experience in analysis of data, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently and with collaborators. Prior interest or experience in the fields of pediatric mental health, ADHD, and/or behavioral sleep medicine are strongly preferred.
