Join our team at Texas A&M University Health Services (https://uhs.tamu.edu/mental-health/index.html#counseling) and make a meaningful impact through mental health counseling and crisis intervention for individuals, couples, and groups. This role is responsible for providing mental health counseling and outreach that is responsive to the unique backgrounds and needs of individuals, couples, and groups. You’ll engage the community with outreach presentations and participate in weekly licensure supervision to ensure top-notch care. Your role includes timely documentation, administering psychological tests, and making referrals. You’ll also supervise and consult with students, faculty, and staff, flexing your schedule during peak times to meet high demand. Stay at the forefront of your field with ongoing professional development and contribute to research that advances mental health services.

Qualifications
Psychologist I
+ Doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or other degree acceptable to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP)
+ One year full-time supervised internship in college or university counseling center or other relevant setting, pre-doctoral internship preferably APA accredited
Psychologist I Required Licenses and Certifications: Eligible for licensure in the State of Texas as a Licensed Psychologist. Become licensed in Texas as a Psychologist within one year from date of employment. Must maintain licensure for continued employment.
Psychologist II
+ Doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or other degree acceptable to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP)
+ One year full-time post-doctoral clinical experience in college or university counseling center or other relevant setting
Psychologist II Required Licenses and Certifications: Licensed as a Psychologist and become licensed in the state of Texas within one year of hire. Must maintain licensure for continued employment.
*Compensation and classification are based on the analyses of the above qualifications during the recruitment process.
Some of the responsibilities include:
Clinical Services & Licensure Supervision - Provides mental health counseling as well as crisis intervention to individuals, couples, and groups. Provides outreach presentations for students, faculty, and staff members about counseling services, programs, professional development topics, issues, etc. Participates in weekly licensure supervision including review of recorded sessions and case review.
Administrative Needs - Meets ethical obligations for timely documentation of counseling services per State of Texas licensure requirements and Counseling & Psychological Services policies.Engages in counseling related activities including administering and interpreting psychological tests/inventories, making referrals, and managing various organizational and administrative aspects of counseling cases.
Supervision & Consultation - May provide supervision for Master/Doctoral level students in Counseling and Counseling Psychology, and adjunct supervision for Doctoral interns.Provides consultation to faculty, staff, students, and parents.Seeks consultation from peers and leadership for difficult clinical cases per State of Texas licensure requirements.
Departmental Needs - At times of high student need, flexes schedule to provide additional clinical services including appointments, outreach, crisis, and other duties as needed.Serves on departmental committees and meetings, division and university committees, and other university functions. Assists with organizational and administrative tasks, as requested.
Professional Development & Research - Per state licensure requirements, participates in continuing education and professional development activities related to the performance of job functions and maintenance of skills in one’s professional specialty area. Engages in applied research and evaluation activities. Publishes and/or disseminates the results of research and evaluation efforts.
