No County Nassau Street Address 223 Store Hill Road PO Box 210 City Old Westbury State NY Zip Code 11568 Duties Description The Department of Psychology at SUNY Old Westbury is seeking a part-time psychology tutor who will assist psychology majors with inferential statistics, APA-style writing, and general content from the major areas within psychology. The tutor will be expected to work with students one-on-one and in groups, both in person and remotely through Zoom. We are especially interested in someone with strong skills in research methods and statistical analysis. A successful tutor will work with instructors so that they can provide much needed support to struggling students. This is a part-time, college year, as needed, hourly paid position.SUNY Old Westbury serves large populations of underrepresented, first-generation, and non-traditional students. Minimum Qualifications Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in psychology or a closely related field.Teaching or tutoring experience.Demonstrated excellent person-to-person communication skills; a positive attitude, patience, dependability, and a strong desire to help students gain confidence and increase their competence in research methods and psychology.Proficient in Excel and SPSS.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in psychology.Teaching or tutoring experience in research methods and/or psychology.Knowledge in other software statistical programs, such as R and SAS.
