Psychotherapist

Job Description:

The Psychotherapist provides culturally-informed counseling, assessment, crisis intervention, and referral services for university students. The Psychotherapist also participates in psychoeducational and community building efforts that address students’ needs, and consults with faculty and staff regarding student concerns. The Psychotherapist must work exceptionally well with Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC), LGBTQ, international, and other under-represented students and communities on campus; and have a sophisticated understanding of how intersectionality, privilege, and socioeconomic status relate to the mental health of a global student community.

Job Qualifications

Required:

Counseling credential/license

Psychologist (PhD/PsyD)

Currently licensed or license eligible within 12 months of start.

Social Worker (MSW):

Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), currently licensed or license eligible within 12 months of start.

Counselor (MA/MS):

Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC); licensed or license eligible within 12 months of start.

Exceptional skills in working with diverse students, a diverse counseling staff, and demonstrated commitment to social justice.

Ability to work with a team; excellent verbal and written communication skills with peers as well as clients.

Preferred:

Experience in a university counseling center (strongly preferred).

Multilingual counseling skills.

Experience and comfort with the provision of care via teletherapy

Experience with trauma-informed care

Experience with shorter counseling sessions and brief clinical approaches.

Skills, knowledge, and experience specifically focused on the needs of students of color, students from indigenous communities, LGBTQ students, international students, students from diverse religious affiliations (Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and others), undocumented students, or first-generation college students on a university campus.

Expertise in goal-focused therapy models (DBT, ACT, solution focused therapy, brief dynamic therapy, etc).
