PT Health Educator, Opioid Overdose Prevention Program

Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today. CAMBA’s Opioid Overdose Prevention Program seeks to expand access to naloxone, a life-saving medication that reverses opioid-related overdoses in Crown Heights, Bed-Stuy, East New York, and Bushwick, communities with high rates of opioid overdoses. The program provides education and dispenses naloxone to those at risk of an opioid overdose (including people who both use opioid and non-opioid drugs that could be mixed with fentanyl) and to their families, friends, and loved ones. Position: PT Health Educator Reports To: Vice President Location: 1259 Flatbush Avenue Brooklyn NY 11226 What The PT Health Educator Does: + Complete NYC DOHMH Training of Dispensers (TOD). + Conduct outreach activities at areas where drug users congregate. + Educate community members on the use of naloxone in reversing an opioid overdose. + Dispense naloxone kits to substance users and their families, friends, and loved ones. + Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports. + Create and maintain documentation of all activities. + May prepare marketing materials for program. + Maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality. + Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol and Procedures. + Comply with any and all Federal, State, City and CAMBA security and privacy policies. + Tasks maybe modified, expanded, and/or assigned over time. Minimum Education/Experience Required: + Sufficient education and technical expertise: to comprehend written and oral instructions (work orders); basic math to accomplish maintenance tasks; and to document accomplished tasks. Other Requirements: + One (1) year of relevant experience, preferably in a mid-sized (250+ employees) organization. + Good written & verbal communication, and interpersonal skills. + Experience with community outreach and engagement. + Experience working in diverse settings. Compensation: $20.00 hourly When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.
