Job Summary
Prepares baked goods to order or in advance based on projected sales.
Responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Typically requires a high school diploma and 0 to 2 years of experience.
+ There's no specific educational background for the job but a current course in culinary sciences is an advantage.
+ Performs work under direct supervision.
+ Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
+ Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter.
+ Must have working knowledge on baked products baking technologies ingredients and baking procedures
+ Must have excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Prepares and bakes bread cakes pies pastries or similar.
+ Mixes and proofs doughs or batters bakes according to directions or recipes and decorates if required.
+ Cleans and sanitizes cooking tools or utensils or food preparation areas.
+ Maintains equipment and appliances. Follows appropriate food safety and handling policies.
+ May clean and sanitize mixers bowls pans ovens and or other materials used for baking purposes or storage of baked goods.
+ Regularly monitor color of products being baked and make adjustments to oven temperatures and other settings to achieve the correct baking level.
+ Makes certain that bakery products are safely handled and stored in a sanitized manner.
+ Processes specialty orders for customers which includes decorating cakes and other bakery items as requested.
+ Check to ensure that baking equipment complies with health and safety regulations.
+ Tracks and records inventory; rotates stock of bakery items to ensure freshness of products and changes price labels as directed.
