Overview

Physical Therapist Assistant

As our Physical Therapist Assistant, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll help assist our therapist in providiing servicers to help patients improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities.

Position Summary

Performs components of physical therapy procedures and related tasks selected by a supervising physical therapist; assist physical therapists in providing services that help improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease.

The schedule is Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with alternating weekends and major holidays.


Responsibilities
Administers therapeutic exercises and physical therapy modalities according to the physical therapy plan of careInstructs, motivates and Assists patients to learn and improve functional activity, such as pre-ambulation, transfer, ambulation and daily living activitiesObserves patients during treatments, Assesses, and compiles data on patients’ responses to treatments and progress and reports verbally or in writing to the physical therapist; may communicate updates to physiciansFit patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, walkers and wheelchairs
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate Degree; Major in Kinesiology/Applied Science or other Physical Therapy related fieldLicensed by the State of Texas- Physical Therapist AssistantBLS CPR certified, American Heart Association

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
