As a Public Finance Associate within the Wholesale Credit Risk organization, you will be directly involved in direct lending transactions and portfolio management. Your responsibilities will include analyzing financial statements, keeping abreast of industry changes, preparing credit approval memos, participating in discussions with senior credit officers and bankers, and establishing credit facilities in line with the Bank's policies.

Job responsibilities

Oversees and monitors a portfolio of client credit exposures, across specialized industry classes, on an ongoing basis Takes ownership of client credit requests and is able to develop and recommend a credit opinion Conducts credit analysis and seeks approval for all transactions, including loans, derivatives, and operating exposures as part of a deal team  Evaluates structures of new loan and derivative transactions and determines risk appetite  Leads or assists in negotiating, finalizing, and executing documentation for loans and derivatives  Remains current on all aspects of the credit relationship, including exposure, compliance, and potential problems Provides a cohesive and comprehensive approach to review ratings, risk assessment, portfolios, clients and industries in their sector  Prepares and presents quarterly and annual risk reviews and tiering analyses Assigns risk ratings and maintains updated credit research on portfolio of clients Manages credit due diligence process for clients Prepares and reviews written credit approval documents, which include financials analysis and modeling

 

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills 

Solid accounting and corporate finance expertise Strong analytical and financial assessment ability Good knowledge of loan and derivative products, documentation, and structuring An interest in client interaction Strong verbal and written communication, along with strong inter-personal skills  An exceptional work ethic Ability to work well under pressure on teams in a demanding environment  Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word software  Minimum  3 years related experience in credit risk, either in banking or a corporate finance role

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills 

Some experience negotiating legal documents associated with tax exempt and taxable credit products a plus
