Visit www.cdc.gov Responsibilities As a Public Health Advisor (Quarantine Program), you will: This position serves as the Officer-in-Charge at an assigned CDC Quarantine Station. Collects and analyzes data from monitoring and surveillance projects at ports to evaluate effectiveness of programs and strategies designed to control and prevent communicable diseases from entering the United States and spreading between States. Technical consultant for assigned grants, contracts or cooperative agreements with CDC, community-based organizations, and other governmental and non-governmental agencies and organizations; responds to requests for quality assurance reviews. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, considering difficulty and requirements of assignments as well as the capabilities of employees. Identifies developmental and training needs for employees and provides for or arranges for needed development and training. Requirements Conditions of Employment Due to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) process enhancement to use Shared Certificates throughout the Agency, some of the requirements below may differ: US Citizenship required. Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (http://www.sss.gov). May be subject to a Background/Security Investigation. Qualifications All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which must include the following experience: provide guidance, and direction to port partners in Division of Global Migration Quarantine programs, quarantine principles, bioterrorism preparedness, and other public health activities related to control and prevention of communicable diseases. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. A college or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
