Public Health Nutritionist Supervisor The Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County is seeking a Public Health Nutritionist Supervisor. The individual in this position will supervise, plan, organize and monitor all activities and work performed by clinic staff assigned to the Clearwater WIC Clinic. This position manages and coordinates nutrition and dietetic services and provides technical expertise in nutrition and dietetics to staff and community. Your Specific Responsibilities: Plans and coordinates workloads, schedules and clinic flow to ensure client services are provided in an efficient and effective manner Evaluates the work performance of staff and uses performance counseling to plan for improved work performance. Assures staff adheres to Federal, and Florida Department of Health and Department of Health in Pinellas County rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Performs quality assurance reviews for nutrition and non-nutrition staff Manages infant formula, EBT and clinic supply inventories. Will be responsible for reconciling monthly inventories Provide staff training as needed Consults with physicians and healthcare personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of clients Provide breastfeeding support and issues breast pumps Approves non-contract infant formula Performs nutrition assessments and counseling, hemoglobin testing, anthropometric measurements and/or clerical services to WIC participants during times of staffing shortages or during periods of peak demand Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary for this position: Ability to provide outstanding customer service to internal and external clients Knowledge of concepts and theories of dietetics or nutrition as it relates to growth, development, health and disease Knowledge of nutritional and dietary assessment techniques Ability to determine nutritional risk and needs and develop nutrition education plans for individuals including low risk, high risk and medical high risk clients Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others Knowledge of basic management principles Ability to supervise people Ability to use Microsoft Office and other state of Florida software products Qualifications: Minimum: Florida State Licensure as a Dietitian/Nutritionist A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, Dietetics, or Food and Nutrition from a school that is accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. A valid driver’s license Preferred: At least one year of WIC program experience as a Nutritionist or Nutrition Educator. At least one year of supervisory experience Bilingual, with written and spoken fluency in English and Spanish. Ability to work a flexible schedule, with some evenings and weekends as needed.
