Reporting to the Healthy Active Long Beach Program Manager (PHP III), this position will focus primarily on policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) change strategies around nutrition and physician activity. The PHPI will also plan, implement, evaluate, and direct efforts to support nutrition education, physical activity promotion, obesity, and chronic disease prevention education activities. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES + Plans, implements, and provides staffing support to nutrition education activities for the Healthy Active Long Beach Program. + Prepares and provides educational material and curriculum resources necessary for Health Educators to conduct nutrition education classes and presentations. + Applies organizational and community-level public health approaches to support the promotion and implementation of policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) changes through health promotion and community engagement. + Develops and/or reviews social media and print resources to promote program activities. + Ensures programmatic activities are documented in online activity tracking system (PEARS). + Co-facilitates nutrition education classes, provides staffing and logistical support to education tables at community events, and provides support to other education activities as needed. + Monitors and maintains funding contract compliance and service delivery outcomes. + Assists Program Manager to develop, implement, and evaluate various program delivery and performance metrics. + Assists with collection of program evaluation documentation including Impact Outcome Evaluation and Site Level Assessment Questionnaires (SLAQ). + Coordinates program activities with public, private, and community-based agencies. + Prepares and submits required program reports. + Participates in development of grant proposals. + Acts as a liaison and represents the City to various agencies, committees, and community groups. + Coordinates the recruitment, training, and placement of program interns. + Driving to co-facilitate nutrition education and physical activity classes, providing staffing and logistical support to education tables at community events, conducting in-person needs assessments, and providing support to other program activities as needed. + Performs other related duties as required. REQUIREMENTS TO FILE EDUCATION + Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Community Health, Public Administration, Business, or closely related field. (Proof of education required) + Experience offering specific and substantial preparation for the duties of the position may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. EXPERIENCE + One-year of full-time professional experience in public health or human services related to a specialized program. + A valid motor vehicle operator license to drive to client homes. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: + Master's Degree in Public Health or similar. + Experience working for a physical activity promotion, nutrition security, injury prevention, or other health promotion-related program area. + Experience working with a variety of agencies, schools, retail entities, and community-based organizations. + Experience planning, coordinating, and implementing policy, systems, and environmental change programs related to physical activities or nutrition. + Experience in leading collaborative partnership meetings. + Professional experience working with multicultural and age-diverse populations. + Experience with program planning and implementation to meet grant objectives and goals. + Experience overseeing a project related to nutrition access and/or active transportation. + Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. + Willingness and ability to work occasional evenings and weekends. + Bilingual skills (Spanish, Khmer, and/or Tagalog).
