Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Public Relations Lead to lead our corporate and product communication efforts. This role is pivotal in shaping our brand’s narrative, fostering relationships with media, and driving impactful communication strategies for a publicly traded technology company. 

 

Our ideal candidate has 12+ years of experience in tech communications, a proven track record of launching consumer products, and exceptional media relations skills. They thrive in collaborative environments, are savvy in navigating media landscapes, and proactively seek innovative opportunities to amplify our voice, leveraging new and emerging media opportunities.

 

As a professional, you’re equal parts strategic and scrappy. You’re curious and love to learn about science and engineering while managing to turn complex concepts into compelling stories that you can tell at multiple altitudes. You likely have experience across corporate, consumer, policy and financial communications and you work well with founders, leadership teams, and engineers.

Responsibilities External communications planning and development, providing both strategic direction and day-to-day execution, covering local, national, international and trade mediaWorks with wider Joby team to develop our core narrative and support our positive introduction to the market, via thought leadership, media relations, executive visibility and corporate and product storytellingDevelops strong set of diverse relationships with relevant editors and journalists in our sectorWorks directly with our external corporate partners on joint PR opportunitiesLeads the development of high-quality written materials, including press releases, blogs, Q&A documents, speeches, editorials and social postsDevelops, coaches and supports the wider Joby team with their own external communications, including speaker trainingManages our speaker platform, ensuring we’re well represented at industry eventsSupports positioning and message development for major company initiatives, including quarterly financial results and responses to key issues, including crisis management Directly manages in-house and external communication resources Required 12+ years of experience in communications within the tech industryExperience of working in a highly regulated marketplaceProven track record of managing high-profile product launches and crafting compelling narratives for consumer productsExperience of managing communications in a publicly listed companyStrong relationships with top-tier media and experience managing media at a global levelExceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex topicsDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and with senior executives, including board members and CEO, founder.Experience managing crisis communications and navigating sensitive situations with discretion.Strong analytical mindset and familiarity with measuring communications impact. Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $121,000 - $212,000/year. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
