Through observation and patrol, safeguard institutional property, identify security issues and enforce institutional rules and regulations. In emergencies, facilitate the orderly evacuation of the buildings and structures. **Position Key Accountabilities:** Patrol: Patrols university buildings and property on foot to prevent theft, vandalism or fire. Calls for Service: Responds to calls for service and provides requested services in a timely manner and in accordance with policies and procedures. Screening: Actively screens all persons entering university facilities; challenges persons without appropriate identification and all suspicious persons. Other Duties as Assigned: Other duties to include, but not limited to, emergency recall and/or may be required to remain onsite or work extended hours during man-made or natural disasters and unusual occurrences on campus. Local or long distance travel may be required for training or other business purposes occasionally. **Certification/Skills:** Valid Class A, B or C Texas driver's license required. One or more levels of certification (Certified Healthcare Security Officer, Certified Advanced Healthcare Security Officer, or Certified Health Security Supervisor) from the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS). **Minimum Education:** High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Education: Some College. **Minimum Experience:** One year of experience in a customer-focused position. With preferred education, no experience required. Preferred Experience: Two years of experience in a customer-focused position. **Physical Requirements:** Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. **Security Sensitive:** This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215 **Residency Requirement:** Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
