The Public Safety Supervisor directly supervises and monitors the daily activities of both Armed and Unarmed Public Safety Officers. This position reports directly to the Public Safety Manager and assists the Director and Manager in the management of the Public Safety Department, as assigned. This position works as a liaison between Public Safety Management and the line officers through the chain of command. As an experienced member of the Public Safety Team, the Supervisor is responsible for the safety and well-being of all visitors, patients, and staff. The Public Safety Supervisor is a leader among the Public Safety Team and is responsible for assisting with leadership functions to include shift scheduling, training, hiring, discipline, and mentoring. Their role is to implement tactics within their shift to ensure that the departmental and organizational objectives are met. The Supervisor is required to work in an armed capacity to perform the functions of a Public Safety Officer as necessary. During times of staff shortage or exigent situations, overtime may be requested. This may include participation in an on-call rotation.

Enforce applicable federal, state and local lawsAssist with leadership functions, to include scheduling, training, hiring, mentoring, disciplinePatrol buildings and grounds, inspect doors, windows and locksKeep fire lanes, fire hydrants and ambulance entrances free of vehicles and enforce parking regulationsAssist motorists who become stranded on Hospital propertyProvide direction and information to patients and visitorsCheck persons entering and leaving the hospital to detect contraband, deter theft, and promote safetyInvestigate incidents of unusual circumstancesDemonstrate good investigation / interview techniquesRespond to all emergency codes, as requiredRespond to calls for assistance to control disorderly conduct or combative patients/visitorsUtilize de-escalation techniques to manage aggressive behaviorDemonstrate proficiency with correct application of clinical restraintsEscorts unruly subjects from the property / building, taking enforcement action as neededCompletes daily logs and detailed incident reports in a timely mannerRecognizes potential safety hazards and assists other departments to maintain a safe work environmentUtilize proper body mechanics when lifting, transporting or moving people or objectsOther duties as assigned

Requirements:

Valid Driver’s License with Satisfactory Driving RecordMust obtain a Pennsylvania Act 235 (Lethal Weapons Training Act) within 12 mo and maintain throughout duration of employmentMust obtain Cardiopulmonary Recusitation and Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED) within 6 mo and maintain throughout duration of employmentMust obtain International Healthcare Safety & Security (IAHSS) Supervisor Certification within 6 mo and maintain throughout duration of employment
