Description We are seeking a Public Staff Tax Accountant to join our team in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a Public Staff Tax Accountant, this role encompasses a variety of tasks including bookkeeping, tax, and accounting duties. In addition, you will provide support to our managers and staff, assisting in daily office needs, and engaging with our client base. The role also involves executing tasks in a detail-oriented business office that services the public. What you get to do every single day: • Act as a point of contact for internal and external clients, ensuring updates to contact lists are made regularly. • Manage monthly client business accounts effectively, providing timely updates and responses. • Oversee accounts payable processes and ensure seamless operations. • Prepare, review, and file individual and business tax returns adhering to federal and employment tax regulations. • Conduct weekly reviews of aged accounts receivable reports. • Generate and verify timesheets, create payroll reports, and prepare checks for signatures as part of payroll tasks. • Carry out daily general ledger entries and month-end journal entries as required. • Manage bank reconciliations and generate monthly Profit and Loss statements and Balance Sheets. • Coordinate with management on daily operations and assist with departmental projects as they arise. • Establish and maintain positive and detail-oriented relationships with clients, vendors, and contractors. • Prepare for meetings with management and team members, including creating meeting summaries and memorandums. • Complete all digital and hard copy filing (including QuickBooks, Microsoft Offices Suite, etc.) as needed in timely correspondence. Requirements Other requirements for the Public Staff Tax Accountant position include and are not limited to: • Proficient in accounting software systems • Familiarity with CaseWare software • Experience with CCH IntelliConnect • Knowledge of CCH ProSystem and CCH ProSystem Fx • Ability to perform accounting functions effectively • Solid understanding of auditing procedures • Demonstrated aptitude for compliance in accounting • Experience in Entity Formation • Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements • Knowledge of Employment tax and Federal Tax laws • Experience in tax preparation and acting as a Tax Preparer • Proficient in use of 1099 Pro Software • Broad understanding of tax laws and procedures • Experience with QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct and QuickBooks Pro • Proven record of successful client engagement • Excellent Client Relations skills • Knowledge of Public Accounting Tax procedures.
