Tor Publishing Group is seeking a detail-oriented, organized person for the position of Publishing Business Operations Assistant. This role will work primarily in our NYC offices as a steward for shipping, archiving, and general office administration that is now needed with our hybrid environment. They will be in the office 2-3 days a week, or as their workload dictates. Additional duties will include database upkeep, file formatting and general support for advanced bound manuscripts. They will also support the operations department around seasonal meeting preparation and assist the Associate Director of Publishing Operations with ad hoc projects and tasks. This is a great opportunity for recent graduates or entry-level professionals eager to learn about the Publishing industry via operations.
What you'll do:
Main point of contact for all shipping and mailroom requests (on behalf of the Operations Dept) Provides maintenance of floor/library copies (shelving, removal, etc) Supports Publicity with author visits (office preparation) ABM (Advance Bound Manuscript) File prep, delivery monitoring, and ordering Galleys delivery monitoring and ordering Initiating Author/Agent contract copies and staff seasonal copies Upkeep of mailroom Inventory (and removal of old books/galleys) Damaged Books Process – track and replace damaged books for consumers POD (Print on Demand) process assistance (with strategy team) Ebook bundles set up assistance (with strategy team) Contract upkeep; data transfer from P&Ls to Biblio Ad hoc support Biblio tasks (for strategy/ops) General onboarding support General office/company support (meeting-free weeks, logo updates, etc) Seasonal meeting support (tip/launch sheets review, minute taking, etc) Additional tasks as needed in support of the operations department)What you'll bring:
