Publishing Support Specialist 

Location: UK Remote, some travel to our offices in Oxford or London may be required

Full-Time, Fixed-Term Contract (Feb – Dec 2025)

About the Role

We’re seeking a proactive Publishing Support Specialist with a blend of print and digital skills and strong organisational capabilities. Marketing communications experience would be a plus.

This fixed-term opportunity will initially focus on our BTEC National paid-for resources, due for publication in spring 2025 and for first teaching in September 2025. Future projects may involve reviewing and updating existing resources.

Key Responsibilities

Editorial Management

Identify and manage suitable suppliers for new projects. Adapt briefs, templates, and documentation for print and digital content creation. Manage supplier contracts, purchase orders, and payments through Pearson systems. Support freelancers with secure system access and troubleshooting. Conduct and oversee editing and proofreading to ensure consistency and quality. Collaborate with the rights and permissions team to clear content rights. Partner with the digital team to ensure resources are published and thoroughly tested. Provide marketing insights to communicate product benefits effectively.

 

Commissioning Support

Assist in researching customer needs and creating compelling business cases. Collaborate with suppliers to develop content that supports learners and educators. Use Oracle systems to manage publication data (training provided).

 

Quality Management

Test sample materials with learners, providing feedback for improvements. Supervise freelance editorial work and improve authoring processes. Innovate workflows for continuous quality enhancement.

 

Market Knowledge

Stay updated on educational trends to design user-friendly, impactful resources. Share insights from customer and competitor research to inform team strategies.

Loves education and is passionate about supporting learners and teachers. Enjoys collaborating in a close-knit team and can lead independently when needed. Possesses proven organisational and project management skills. Has editorial experience, ideally managing freelancers and editorial projects. Brings a positive, determined attitude and is eager to grow their skillset.

Experience in the vocational sector is not essential, but a genuine interest is highly desirable.
