The role you’ll contribute:

The Respiratory Therapist, practicing under the clinical direction of the physicians and administrative direction of the Practice Leader, provides appropriate care, evaluation and treatment for patients with breathing and/or cardiopulmonary disorders. Performs inpatient & out-patient pulmonary diagnostic testing at a high level of proficiency, such as spirometry, lung volumes, flow volume loops, single breath diffusing capacity, complete cardio-pulmonary exercise testing, metabolic measurements, arterial punctures bronchial provocation testing, oxygen titration, 6 minute walk, to assist physicians in both the diagnosis and in guiding therapy of patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. The Technologist also performs daily essential blood gas laboratory duties to include daily blood gas analyzer maintenance, daily critical value log reports, perform daily laboratory Q & A to meet regulatory standards. The technologist also provides proficiency training validation for all clinical staff to include bedside spirometry and blood gas analysis procedures. The technologists performs Pulmonary Rehabilitation instruction. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Adheres to Advent Health Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

· Administers breathing and oxygen procedures such as nebulizer treatments

· Prepares and tests devices used such as pulmonary equipment, breathing devices and oxygen supply

· Sets equipment controls to regulate the flow of oxygen and gases

· Administers prescribed medications & treatments; documents appropriately and completely

· Assesses patients’ response to treatments and modifies treatment if necessary; monitors patients during treatments and reports any unusual reactions to physician or appropriate staff members

· Cleans, sterilizes, checks and maintains respiratory therapy equipment

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

Minimum qualifications :

· CRT - Certified Respiratory Therapist

· BLS - Basic Life Support

· ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of employment

Preferred qualifications:

· RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist

· Certified Pulmonary Function Technician (CPFT) credential. Required within 12 months of hiring or placement into the position.
