Primary Responsibilities

The Pump Stations (PS) and Pipelines Section Manager will be an internally and externally facing leader for our “outside the fence” team in the Mid-Atlantic Water Business Group. This role has three (3) primary responsibilities: Lead our group’s efforts to achieve our strategic Pump Stations and Pipelines BC initiatives, serve as a technical champion for Pump Station and Pipeline quality and delivery; and manage workload of the PS and Pipelines team. To meet our Pump Station and Pipelines initiatives, drive growth, and promote innovation you’ll be expected to be a presence in the marketplace (e.g. conferences, professional organizations) and to be an effective partner with our client managers and business development leaders (e.g. proposal development). As the Section Manager, you’ll be expected to develop and mentor our young engineers and EITs, lead quality reviews, communicate national BC initiatives to staff, and serve as a Project Manager on PS and Pipelines projects for our clients. Lastly, you will be responsible for the workload management of the PS and Pipelines staff to achieve their utilization goals and also the strategic development of their technical resumes for their growth and successful pursuit of key projects.

This candidate is expected to be an effective partner with the Mid-Atlantic Business Group Manager, Professional Services Lead (local and national), local Business Class Leads, business development staff, client managers and be adept at engaging HDR’s broad resources outside of the area to support our local program.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or similar Engineering DegreeA minimum of 10 years management experienceProfessional Engineer RegistrationStrong communication and listening skillsAbility to handle multiple assignmentsGood leadership and organizational skillsAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree is preferred.15 years of overall experience with municipal pump stations and pipelines as an engineer and project managerProven supervisorial leadership and technical mentoring skills.Existing quality relationships with clients in the Maryland, Northern Virginia, and District of Columbia. Ability to support pursuit efforts with technical and client leadership.Excellent inter-personal and communications skills. Condition assessment and rehabilitation experience of pressure and gravity pipelinesExisting relationships with clients in the State of Virginia

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
