Description Jennie Joiner has a Buyer position within the retail industry, located in EUGENE, Oregon. As a Buyer, you will be pivotal in supporting the execution of strategies and developing long-range business strategies. Your role will involve detailed analysis, vendor communication, inventory productivity management, and marketing specific lines/categories to enhance profitability. The Buyer will support the Director of Merchandising and includes inventory productivity management and marketing of specific lines/categories to significantly improve profitability. Will require light travel to four trade shows a year as well as visiting Oregon stores. Responsibilities: • Assist in determining the assortment of products best suited to our customer's needs and aligned with the merchandising strategy in each area. • Execute strategies for stock items and special-order items, ensuring the accuracy of Vendor Information and Special-Order Information Files. • Identify market opportunities by comparing competitor’s assortments, pricing, and reacting to feedback from vendors or stores, including New Item Requests or Special Orders. • Assist in managing items and inventory levels to the end of their season or lifecycle; manage communication with stores and vendors to effectively execute product clearance. • Utilize available tools to analyze sales performance and interpret data to make action-oriented recommendations. • Assist in maintaining the product lifecycle, from the creation of new items to the execution of clearance strategies. Maintain data integrity to support sourcing, replenishment, available to promise dates, and web product content. • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure inquiries are responded to timely and effectively. • Assist in developing marketing strategies and ensure all data inputs needed for successful execution are completed. • Ensure print, digital, and social media advertising strategies are communicated to the Merchandising & Marketing teams to ensure accurate and timely execution. • Recommend categories and items for advertising based on seasonal cadence or promotional activities. Group products into “stories” for cleaner and easier understanding. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent work experience. Specialized training or related coursework in Retail Administration, Merchandising, Business, or another related field of study desired. Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience in a retail buying office preferred, or a related merchandising experience. Requirements • Applicant should have a clear understanding of buying processes and purchasing activities. • Strong communication skills are essential for effective negotiation and liaising with suppliers. • Experience in a purchasing department, overseeing purchasing functions and management. • Familiarity with purchasing materials and restocking processes. • Ability to plan and execute purchasing strategies. • Knowledge of using purchasing systems and supporting purchasing activities. • Experience in conducting pricing analysis and making pricing decisions. • Ability to negotiate competitive pricing and handle customer pricing. • Skills in market pricing and managing pricing changes. • Familiarity with environmental industry standards and practices is a plus.
