Job DescriptionPay range: $72,975 to $91,225 per year
Purpose of Position:
Purchasing Agent’s primary role is to manage the purchase and delivery of Ingredient Commodities to all Foster Farms, in an efficient and cost-effective manner. The incumbent will provide knowledge of the assigned spend and process, and develop the appropriate supplier base in conjunction with Sourcing Managers and Internal Stakeholders (includes Finance, FSQA and Plant Operations). The Purchasing Agent will drive business value by maintaining, analyzing, and reporting consumption and price information in order to identify and deliver improvements. Individuals in this position will be asked to competitively bid purchases, to identify and deliver cost reduction, as well as, contribute to process efficiency. The Purchasing Agent will be required to establish and maintain purchase information in SAP for Accounts Payable and Purchasing, consistent with company goals and specifications for quality and timeliness. Purchasing Agents are a key team member, ensuring supply continuity and driving total value.
Essential Job Functions:
Analyze spend, source, bid, negotiate, make commitments, maintain SAP records for assigned responsibilities and support operations. Establish vendor relationships and purchase mapping for stakeholders within assigned categories. Maintain, evaluate and provide feedback for supplier's performance.Detailed analysis and interpretation of all data maintained, including but not limited to spend, categories, suppliers, purchase orders, bids, and other transactions or analysis as required.Work with cross-functional teams to influence and drive decisionsSupport and deliver continuous improvement opportunities related to assigned buy space, procure to pay process, or other responsibilitiesMaintain Contracts, Databases, Information records, or Source ListsOther tasks as assigned by the Purchasing Manager or DirectorQualificationsMinimum Requirements:
Degree in Food Science, Procurement, Production Planning, Business, Statistics or related field strongly preferred, or equivalent experience. Must have three or more years of Purchasing/Sourcing or business-related experience in Commodities which are traded (wheat, corn and sugar markets).Demonstrated analytical skills with statistics, plus report writing skills required3 to 5 years sourcing, materials management, finance/accounting, supply chain or operations experience, or MBA plus 2 years’ experience (sourcing, materials management, finance/accounting, supply chain or operations).Proficient in Microsoft Office (spreadsheets, presentations, & data bases)Act decisively with a sense of urgency, but able to collaborate and build alignment.Must be a “self-starter” comfortable working independently on multiple projects simultaneously.Capable of prioritizing, meeting deadlines, and delivering resultsRequires demonstrated excellent communication skills, clear articulate speech, good listening skills and the ability to generate clear, concise written documentation.Have the ability to influence through indirect authority is essential.Preferred Requirements:
Supplier relationship management experience.Experience negotiating with vendors, suppliers, or internal/external customers.Working knowledge of SAP.Physical Requirements:
Must be able to obtain CA driver’s license.Must have reliable transportation in order to attend off-site meetings and supplier audits with FQSA or independently.Must be able to have consistent attendance in the Livingston, or other assigned Foster Farms’ office(s).
