Description
We are seeking a Purchasing Agent to join our team in York, PA. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of vendor and contract negotiations. You will be responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, supplies, and services essential to our business operations while optimizing cost efficiency, quality, and delivery timelines. This role is an excellent fit for candidates with strong negotiation skills, analytical abilities, and a commitment to maintaining excellent supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Research, identify, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors, focusing on those with experience in supplying manufacturing materials and services
+ Lead negotiation efforts with vendors on pricing, terms, and contracts to secure favorable agreements while maintaining cost controls and mitigating risk
+ Prepare and execute purchase orders, requisitions, and other procurement-related documents
+ Monitor inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted operations and plan for replenishments to avoid stockouts or overages
+ Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and production teams to determine materials and supply needs, quality standards, and specifications
+ Track vendor performance to ensure adherence to quality, price, and delivery commitments; identify and resolve issues proactively
+ Conduct market research to stay ahead of industry trends and identify cost-saving opportunities or potential supply chain risks
+ Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures, as well as relevant legal regulations
+ Resolve any discrepancies among purchase orders, deliveries, and invoices
+ Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation in ERP or procurement software systems

Requirements
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field preferred
+ 2-3 years of experience as a Purchasing Agent or Procurement Specialist, ideally in the manufacturing industry.
+ Strong experience in vendor relationship management and contract negotiation.
+ Proficiency in using procurement software (experience with ERP systems preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
+ Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, particularly in manufacturing or production environments.
+ Familiarity with material planning, cost modeling, and supplier scorecards is a plus.
