Overview: The Purchasing Agent will manage quoting and purchasing materials, ensuring smooth communication with internal teams and vendors. Ideal candidates have experience in metal manufacturing procurement, are highly organized, and eager to learn.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Purchasing Manager in running the department and monitoring inventory.Research and select vendors to improve profitability and efficiency.Handle RFQs, purchase orders, shipping schedules, and purchase records.Maintain and file purchase orders, contracts, receipts, and transactions.Build and maintain good relationships with vendors, ensuring timely follow-ups.Oversee on-site vendor equipment and programs (e.g., AIRGAS, MSC).Review cost proposals and negotiate prices and contracts with the Purchasing Manager.Compare deliveries with purchase orders to identify discrepancies.Stay updated on market trends to manage costs and find new vendors.Help with yearly inventory and other assigned tasks.Qualifications: 2-5 years of procurement experience (highly preferred in a metal manufacturing company).Intermediate Excel experience.ERP Experience. Experience with vendor management and supply chain management.
Work Environment
100% in office. Hours are 7:45am - 4:30pm while on contract and 8:15am - 4:30pm when permanent. You will be working closely with the Sr. Buyer and alongside engineers, service technicians, shipping, and sales teams. The company is small and family-owned, having been around for 130 years, providing job security and longevity. The role allows autonomy to work on passion projects and grow your role as you see fit. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.44 - $31.25/hr.
