Purchasing Agent I

As a Purchasing Agent I, you'll be using your skills and expertise to purchase materials, supplies, and services on the most favorable terms for the organization. You'll be responsible for qualifying our suppliers, monitoring and ensuring our supplier quality and delivery, evaluating bids, negotiating prices and terms for purchased goods and services, tracking purchases, and maintaining a current database of our supplier information.

This level I Purchasing Agent position will support a variety of IAS Purchasing Agents and Programs to ensure suppliers are meeting their Contractual Delivery Dates. The selected candidate will be the focal liaison to ensure delivery information is disseminated in a timely manner and any slipped delivery schedule is promptly addressed with recovery plans identified. Timely updates to the system will be required to ensure accurate delivery dates are being tracked. Advise Management and other team members of market conditions and supply base activity, which could affect pricing and or future availability. Generate effective communications, good relations, and positive image with suppliers and coworkers, promoting courtesy, objectivity, and fairness in all business dealings. Will assist in coordinating with other Procurement staff, Planning team, Suppliers, Receiving and QA to identify and resolve material discrepancies identified at incoming receiving/inspection - i.e. lack of documentation and/or inconsistencies in provided documentation and non-conforming material. Great opportunity for this position to get involved with requesting Quotes from Suppliers and potentially placing some smaller dollar PO's for experience and exposure which could ultimately lead to a Buying position. Qualifications You Must Have:
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field and typically 0-2 or more years of relevant experience
• Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
• Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education
• Comprehensive written, verbal and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple proposals at one time

•Ability to maintain/obtain a secret clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

•Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

•Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills

•Ability to work well with other departments

•Background or exposure to Government Contracting

•Knowledge of FAR/DFARS

Responsibilities:

•Follow up and placing of Purchase Orders

•Work closely with Receiving on discrepant shipments

•Be a main buyer for SNC

•Ensure all invoices are processed prior to becoming past due
