Job Title: Purchasing SpecialistJob Description We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Purchasing Specialist to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for obtaining vendor quotes, evaluating bids, negotiating terms, placing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery of materials. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Responsibilities + Prepare written inquiries or obtain verbal or written quotes for vendor-supplied items and subcontracts in compliance with requisitions and/or specifications. + Receive vendor bids and evaluate bids considering price, delivery date, past performance of vendor, etc., to determine the successful bidder. + Negotiate terms and conditions of purchase orders and issue purchase change orders. + Expedite awarded purchase orders when necessary to ensure timely delivery. + Handle third-party rental contracts and awards, renewals, and terminations. Maintain files and chart all rental orders. + Coordinate invoice problems with vendor and accounting; delivery requirements with vendor. Qualify requirements with project managers as appropriate. + Prepare all required documentation for each purchase order. + Track Minority purchasing requirements and fill out appropriate forms where required. + Establish and maintain working contracts with vendors. Meet with sales and vendor representatives as required. + Perform additional assignments as directed by supervisors. + Obtain catalog submittal drawings for materials to be purchased where required. Essential Skills + Minimum 2 years of purchasing experience within the automotive industry. + Experience working with electrical components. + Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including intermediate Excel skills (formulas). + Knowledge of procurement techniques, procedures, and policies. + Ability to prepare and manage purchase orders and negotiate terms. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Diploma in a related field. + Experience with ERP systems (they will be moving to a new system by the end of the year). + Strong communication and interpersonal skills. + Highly organized with the ability to multitask. Work Environment The position is located in Sterling Heights, MI, and is fully onsite Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm with some flexibility. The work environment is a typical office setting with cubicles, and the dress code is business casual.
