Purchasing Manager – Job Description
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or relevant field, with proven purchasing experience in the maritime industry. Minimum 5 years’ experience in hotel F&B stores, consumables, durables, and inventory control, preferably on cruise vessels. Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and tight schedules. Proficient in Microsoft Office and purchasing/inventory management IT tools; knowledge of ISO systems is a plus. Excellent command of English; additional European languages (e.g., German, French) are an asset. Understanding of finance, analytical skills, and knowledge of hotel industry regulations. Responsibilities:
Lead purchasing operations, ensuring compliance with company standards and procurement policies. Coordinate purchasing needs for clients and vessels, including requisition integration and supply scheduling. Use approved suppliers and group contracts, analyze costs, and monitor order progress to ensure timely delivery. Organise and lead bid solicitation processes and evaluate suppliers’ performance through audits and quality checks. Collaborate with the accounts department on payment terms and review budgets versus actual expenditures. Develop and maintain procurement plans, assist in vendor complaint resolution, and ensure adherence to internal procedures. Manage the purchasing team, monitor operational budgets, and assist in reporting to the Head of Procurement. Perform other related tasks as assigned. The Purchasing Manager reports to the Head of Procurement.
