Purchasing Manager
Job Title: Purchasing Manager Job Description The Purchasing Manager is responsible for organizing and supervising purchasing functions, managing daily activities in purchasing, including day-to-day and capital projects purchases. This role involves reviewing and overseeing all contracts, including administering, negotiating, renewing, filing, and evaluating for availability, price, term, and quality of products. The Purchasing Manager will coordinate the bid process and ensure compliance with procurement conflict of interest policies and regulations. Responsibilities + Demonstrate effective communication and problem-solving skills. + Coordinate with the Corporate team in China on Vendor and Supplier relations. + Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with key suppliers. + Oversee contract management, including administration, review, management, filing, evaluation, analysis, and negotiation. + Coordinate alternate materials with the Engineering and Chemistry team. + Oversee negotiations and renegotiations with vendors. + Evaluate vendors to ensure their performance aligns with established specifications. + Develop and oversee the implementation of purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures. + Identify opportunities for cost savings. + Develop alternate sources and vendors, ensuring competitive pricing and being aware of non-price considerations. + Continually improve purchasing methods and processes. + Respond to inquiries from internal and external sources, providing information, direction, and appropriate referrals. + Handle special projects and other duties as assigned. + Ensure lead times are communicated to management to reflect actual delivery information from suppliers. + Evaluate suppliers through methods such as supplier visits and various objective performance measurements, including on-time delivery, service performance, and price performance. + Manage the activities and workload of the Purchasing Team. Essential Skills + Experience working in a manufacturing environment. + Experience purchasing raw materials (5-8 years with a Bachelor's degree or 8-10+ years without a Bachelor's degree). + Experience with contract negotiations and cost savings initiatives. + Experience working with an ERP System (ideally SAP, but open to other ERP system experience). + Experience sourcing and onboarding new vendors and working with existing vendors. + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (ideal if proficient in pivot tables). Additional Skills & Qualifications + Degree in business administration, accounting, economics, or a related field. + Minimum of five years of work experience in a purchasing management role. + Strong computer literacy. + SAP experience preferred. + Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.). + Demonstrates aptitude and precision working with numbers. + Knowledge of purchasing policies, processes, and procedures. + Knowledge and ability to negotiate best vendor terms and pricing. + Ability to manage and provide guidance to members of the Purchasing Team. + Demonstrated ability to properly delegate work throughout the Purchasing Team, providing the necessary tools for success. + Strong interpersonal and communication skills. + Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task. + Ability to learn new software and processes. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
