Spherion is hiring a Purchasing Assistant for a highly sought-after client in Canonsburg, PA! If you're detail-oriented, organized, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, this role could be a great fit for you.

About the Role:

As a Purchasing Assistant, you’ll support the Purchasing Manager by handling procurement tasks efficiently and cost-effectively. You’ll assist with vendor relationships, provide excellent customer service to internal teams, and coordinate with Finance & Administration.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide administrative and clerical support to the purchasing department Process material requests and create purchase orders (POs) for suppliers Track and update acknowledgment dates in POs and spreadsheets Assign part numbers for non-engineering requisition items Set up new suppliers based on required forms Receive materials for blanket POs and manage small-value purchases Support buyers and assist in all purchasing functions Communicate with suppliers and internal teams for seamless information exchange Compare prices, specs, and delivery timelines to assist Purchasing Agents Ensure timely order tracking and delivery coordination Maintain up-to-date records of invoices, contracts, and order details Follow up with suppliers on order status, changes, or cancellations Work with warehouse/shipping teams to confirm product quality upon arrival

What You'll Need:

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow verbal & written instructions Basic knowledge of purchasing procedures and policies (or willingness to learn) Familiarity with ERP systems (preferred) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or GED Experience: 2+ years in a similar purchasing or procurement role (preferred)
