Purchasing Specialist
**Job Description** **Monday - Friday** **7:30AM - 4:00 PM Schedule is Subject to Change** **General Purpose:** Acquires materials, supplies, and services, for both maintenance MRO & plant production required ingredients / items and closely works with Maintenance & Production sustain an efficient operation. **Job Duties and Responsibilities:** + Work with SAP/MRO Systems and acquire “Super User” status + Audit daily open, overdue/ backordered, purchase orders/ requisitions to ensure they are accurate and on time + Research for a part or item in a timely manner + Gather equipment information required and review order to make sure it is correct + Maintain special order items status accurate and on time + Keep requestor advised of order status + Reconcile purchase orders to invoices, and submit to accounts payable in a timely manner + Work with all plant SAP specialist and Corporate to ensure SAP/ MRO programs operate satisfactorily + Communicate directly with OEM suppliers and vendors to ensure competitive cost and quality parts + Review opportunities for new supply sources and suitability of materials offered + Look for ways to increase purchasing / parts room efficiencies + Monitor and report any department discrepancies to maintenance management + Perform Physical inventory on Totes, Labels, boxes, bimonthly and reconcile with SAP + Participate in 5S program Audits + Attend all assigned pass-down meetings + Utilize purchasing, parts receiving and maintenance team member’s skills + Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues + Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrive + Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements + Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment + Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity + Attend required training, including but not limited to, Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF) + Responsible for monitoring and taking corrective actions when necessary for a critical control point as part of the plant HACCP plan + Ensure that all documentation is done correctly and turned in promptly + Participate in Buildings and Grounds inspections, coordinate periodic scale checks + Coordinate service of forklifts and scissor lifts + Work with EHS team on oil storage and hazardous waste inspections, coordinate removal of e-wastes + The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required.
